Hello!
Welcome to my GENERATION TREE blog. I'm chuffed to bits that you've taken the time to check out my blog. Generation Tree has now been up and running for about three months now and the response has been fantastic. It all began in August 2011 when I realised that I would have to hand in my notice for a job I really loved. I had come to the end of my maternity leave and I realised that my salary wouldn't cover the childcare costs.
After shedding many tears I put pen to paper and started brain-storming.
I had been working in Criminal Intelligence as a researcher and analyst so my skill set was all centred around an understanding of how to carry out research and produce reports. This was my way forward. I started researching my own family tree first. My father was adopted and, out of the blue, asked if I would be interested in researching his biological mother. All I had to go on was a name and an approximate age. Not only did I manage to trace my father's mother, but also his biological father and living siblings! We met for the first time last week and it was the most bizarre yet incredible experience.
Looking into my family history provided me with a great feeling of knowing where I had come from. It means that I can tell my children where their relations came from over 200 years ago. Amazing things can be discovered.
About 90% of my family all turned out to be miners in the Midlands but my great great Grandmother was called Elizabeth Hathaway and she was a direct bloodline descendant of Richard Hathaway the father of Anne Hathaway, Shakespeare's wife! So you never know who you could be related too.
